On the morning of August 20, 2024, Photon Crystal Energy celebrated a momentous occasion with a grand ceremony in Danzao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. The event marked the official commissioning of their cutting-edge 100MW perovskite pilot line and the unveiling of the first Perovskite PV module, representing a significant milestone in the advancement of photovoltaic technology. Guangdong, with its robust industrial base and the vibrant Greater Bay Area, is at the forefront of advancements in clean energy technologies, including distributed photovoltaic systems, building-integrated photovoltaics, and photovoltaic hydrogen production, as it works towards its "Carbon peaking" and "Carbon neutrality" goals. Perovskite solar modules, a promising next-generation PV technology, offer widespread material availability, a streamlined manufacturing process, lower costs and higher conversion efficiency, positioning them as a viable alternative to traditional silicon solar modules. This technology is especially suitable for fostering a local photovoltaic industry in Guangdong and achieving further breakthroughs in the clean energy sector.
Photon Crystal Energy, incubated at the Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, has inaugurated the Greater Bay Area's first perovskite pilot line with this 100MW facility. The pilot line utilizes state-of-the-art domestic equipment and automated continuous production processes, achieving industry-leading performance standards. With its proprietary ink formula and advanced full-printing technology, the pilot line will produce high-efficiency and cost-effective perovskite photovoltaic modules sized 1.2 meters by 0.6 meters. Upon full operation, the pilot line is expected to generate annual sales exceeding 100 million RMB. The successful commissioning of this pilot line represents a major advancement for Photon Crystal Energy in scaling up the industrialization and commercialization of perovskite solar moduels, establishing a robust foundation for future expansion to GW-scale production.
The launch ceremony was a landmark event, graced by notable dignitaries including Shengchun Li, Deputy Secretary-General of Foshan City; Yaohui Gu, Secretary of the Nanhai District Committee; Minyi He, Secretary of the Danzao Town Party Committee; Yibing Cheng, Academician of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and Chief Consultant of Photon Crystal Energy; Siqing Shi, Executive Deputy Director of Foshan Xianhu Laboratory; and Professor Fuzhi Huang, Chairman of Photon Crystal Energy. Their inspiring speeches and active participation highlighted the importance of this milestone, as they joined Photon Crystal Energy’s dedicated team in marking the dawn of a new chapter for the company.

In addition to the launch, Photon Crystal Energy also announced new strategic partnerships and new financing developments. During the signing ceremony, the company secured strategic cooperation agreements with major clients and partners to explore diverse applications in distributed photovoltaics, integrated building photovoltaics, colorful and distinctive photovoltaic products, and international markets. Moreover, Photon Crystal announced progress of series A+ financing with over 100 million RMB. Series A+ financing was led by Topview Innovation, followed by New Insight Capital, and additional investments from existing investors Qiming Venture Partners and Dingxiang Capital. This round of financing provides sufficient support for the company to tackle large-scale production challenges, to be ready for GW-level manufacturing.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic unveiling of the first perovskite solar module produced by the new pilot line, performed by Deputy Secretary-General Shengchun Li, Secretary Yaohui Gu, Academician Yibing Cheng, Director Liwei Xue of the Foshan Science and Technology Bureau, Secretary Minyi He, and Chairman Fuzhi Huang. This event unveils a new chapter for Photon Crystal Energy in the photovoltaic industry.
